Data released by the South Korean Customs Agency on Wednesday showed that South Korea's exports rose 13.3 percent year-on-year in April, driven by strong demand for chips.20thcenturyfoxscratch.8% to US$56.2 billion, growing for seven consecutive months, and automobile exports also hit a record high.
Imports increased by 5.4% year-on-year to US$54.7 billion, and the trade surplus reached US$1.53 billion, maintaining a surplus for 11 consecutive months.
In terms of export categories, chip exports increased by 56.1% year-on-year to US$9.96 billion, maintaining growth for six consecutive months.
Exports of display products also increased20thcenturyfoxscratchThis was 16.3%, reaching US$1.43 billion.
Automobile exports also hit a record high, reaching US$6.79 billion in April, a year-on-year increase of 10.3%, surpassing the previous record of US$6.53 billion set in November 2023.
In terms of export destinations, exports to the United States in April hit a new record of US$11.4 billion, a year-on-year increase of 24.3%, growth for nine consecutive months. Exports to China increased by 9.9% year-on-year to US$10.5 billion.
